A Forsworn Fantasy

Introducing: Magdalene

In the capital city of the continent of Aurelius, known as Cornelia, there exists a small district just outside the eastern gate known as Highwind’s Gate. Inside Highwind’s Gate, there exists a tavern, and that tavern has a rather well-known, boisterous, and fierce tavernmistress: Magdalene Highwind.

Magdalene, or Maggy, is a tall human woman with distinct curly orange-red hair and matching red eyes. She is strong both physically and figuratively, with a toned physique from her mornings of training and sparring, and an attitude to match. Maggy lets nothing and no one get in the way of what she wants, and will use all of her strength to ensure the result she desires is achieved.

As previously mentioned, Maggy is a tavernmistress first and foremost, but she usually spends her days out of the tavern honing her skills with her prized morningstar, Dragonbarb, which was custom-made for her by Cornelia’s civilian weaponsmith, Esau. Maggy also possesses extraordinary strength, being able to fell men twice her size as if they were mere playthings, but neither she nor those around her attribute this power to anything more than consistent, rigorous training.

A powerful warrior in her own right, she is also respected due to her family heritage. Though she never knew her mother, and her father left when she was young, Maggy looks up to another family member – one who she has never even met. Abel Highwind, the leader of the armies of Dragoons that massacred the terrible Dragon population hundreds of years ago.

Maggy’s only goal in life is to do something that will make Abel proud when she finally meets him in death. To do something worthy of the title of Dragoon is the reason she trains so hard and fights tooth and nail, no matter what the circumstance.

Perhaps in the coming years, Maggy will finally get that chance. Though, what she ends up facing might be far worse than Dragons.

Read about Magdalene Highwind and her adventure when my book Children of the Sun is released!
